2005 Zinfandel - St. Helena - Napa Valley

The 2005 Napa grape growing season will not be soon forgotten for the Napa grape growers as well as the winemakers. Vines started growing a month earlier than normal. Winter and spring rains also minimized stress leading to larger, healthier canopies. Harvest occurred as much as six weeks later than last year because of a cool summer, mild September and October, a heavier crop and the lack of significant heat spikes.

Tasting Notes

This St. Helena Appellation Zinfandel (93%) is complemented with Syrah (4%) and Petite Sirah (3%). Only perfect clusters were selected for intense color and richness, and then gently fermented in small lots. Vanilla bean, black pepper spice and purple plum flavors combine with soft tannins and a mature texture that finishes with lingering raspberries and spice notes.
