Sunset Magazine Wine Awards 2006 Sauvignon Blanc

The Charles Krug-Peter Mondavi Family 2006 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc was awarded TOP White Wine from all varietals in the Good Value Category (wines priced between $15 and $30) by Sunset Magazine's Western Wine Awards for 2007 (September issue of the magazine). Only ten wines were awarded the honor in five categories.
The first wine made by our winemaker, Adolfo Alarcon, is described as "bright and fresh, as a California Sauvignon Blanc should be. Grapefruit and Key lime carry the palate, but passion fruit, herbal pea shoot flavors, and hints of olive add interest."
Sara Schneider, Sunset Wine Editor, wrote in a congratulatory letter to the Peter Mondavi Family "this was the award given to the white wine between $15 and $30 that earned the highest score in our annual awards tasting here at our headquarters in Menlo Park.
This year the competition was exceptionally stiff. Working in teams, our judges (some of the best palates on the West Coast) blind tasted more than 200 nominated wines across four price ranges - a veritable Western wine hall of fame. Your Sauvignon Blanc took first place among the Good-Value whites."
The Sauvignon Blanc is available online at the ecommerce section (Buy Wine Now) of our website and at many retailers throughout the country and fine dining establishments.
