Make-A-Wish Foundation Recipient of Charles Krug Auction

Four Big Bottles Fetch Over $46,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation

St. Helena, CA, May 2007
Four custom-etched bottles, each containing 27 liters of 2004 Charles Krug Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon from Charles Krug Winery-Peter Mondavi Family, raised a total of $46,125 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This year's auctions mark the fifth consecutive year that Charles Krug Winery has partnered with Morton's-The Steak House. Events this year were held in Northbrook, Illinois, Charlotte (SouthPark), North Carolina, Baltimore, Maryland and Reston, Virginia.

"Our family is proud to support the incredibly valuable work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Peter Mondavi, Jr., proprietor of Charles Krug Winery. "We deeply appreciate the contributions of the winning bidders and the loyalty of all those who joined us at Morton's for these dinners."

The Peter Mondavi family commissioned the series of custom-etched 27-liter bottles, each equivalent to three cases, or 36 standard 750 ml bottles, especially for these events. The family donated the four mammoth bottles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which raised enough money to grant the wishes of seven children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

Charles Krug is Napa Valley's first winery, founded in 1861 and operated for three generations by the Peter Mondavi Family. In 2003 the family initiated the conversion of its 850 acres of prime Napa Valley land to organic and sustainable viticulture practices, and today almost half of its vineyard properties are certified organic.
